roar
How would this sound underwater? I'm trying to approach these drawings in terms of shapes, and not really lines. I usually draw thinking of lines. Its how almost any drawing starts. And working as a traditional animator, you work almost completely with line drawings. I feel that drawings indicating blocks of light and shadow are stronger. And that's how I want to approach this. So I really have to unlearn a lot of what I am used to doing. This drawing is halfway there. But I still fell back on using lines to define some areas, as opposed to relying solely on shadow and light. And since there's no background, its hard to not throw in some outlines.
And yes, I think Namor will encounter a sea beast of some kind in this story. This was my second try at the beast. The first one looked more like a big carp. Started this on the train yesterday with a refillable brush, and then at home taped some other pages of my sketchbook to it and added the rest.

Ah! Very clever taping pages to draw some more! ^_^
I'm not sure who Namor is but he the way you draw seems as if he's an enigmatic character. Very cool. Are you going to take this to SDCC next year?
Glad to see you gave him the classic wrist bands, and I'm liking the beast.
yo Sam! Namor is a classic Marvel superhero. Come on now! I'm just doing this for the heck of it. Been wanting to try drawing Namor for a while now, and so here's my try at it. And yes Nick, while I don't know about the flashy banana hammock, he's gotta have the wrist bands.
Glad you started a blog Jeremy. Now we can stay updated with you and your work even though you may be millions of miles away.
Awesome!
Ps. I don't know who Namor is either... but nice lookin' stuff. I especially like that creature peering his head in from the right.
yo Dan! Thanks for checkin this out. You don't know who Namor is? Well, get in line. Glad you dig the drawings so far.
Man, you have your own blog for 5 minutes, and you think you can just start making demands on other peoples blogs? The nerve of some people!
Namor, by the way is an underwater pixie sea-elf who rides a seahorse named Puddles and sleeps in a magical clam. That's all I remember. I know what you want to ask me, so yes, you can go ahead and use Greg the merman in your Namor story. Just give me proper credit.
The stuff looks great. I love that shadowy rendering style, and it's nice to see some new stuff. Let's see how long you can keep this up mr. tough guy
THanks for visiting my blog. Awesome powerful drawing here!! :)
Greg, bwahahaha. Its official, this blog will now be called, "Greggy's Magical Merman Adventure". You will be a star.
Hey Jeremy thanks for the comments. I like how you're taking these Namor drawings in a new direction. I'm a slave to lines! I'm thinking with the moody darkness there would be underwater you could drop in a lot of blacks for backgrounds and really have a lot of room to play around with it. Looking forward to more.
Whats up man! Thanks for stoppin by my blog! And leaving such a great comment, I will def add you to my links. Good to hear from you!
